This is every composer’s dream: to have at the disposal a readily available orchestra with which new, experimental ideas can be tested on the spot. Joseph Haydn, for example had this rare privilege at the Esterhazy to great effect. Today, though, such opportunities are rare, especially for younger composers. A residency at The Refinery is ICCM’s response to this need.

The Refinery Programme will be initiated at the beginning of the 2022/23 seasons; applications will be opened on the 1  February 2023. Selected candidates will then be assigned residency for the following season (2023/24).
